Holiday villa on the beach of Päijänne.

Villa Kaaripoukama is located on a wonderful promontory on the shores of Päijänne, and with nearly 5,000 square meters the plot has views of the lake to the east, south and west. The complex, designed for year-round vacation living, consists of the main building, a beach sauna, and a garage and carport. The main points of departure for the plan were the inclusion of wonderful landscapes as part of the plan, durable and beautiful materials, and a very practical spatial complex, designed together with the client, suitable for an active and sporty family of four. The plan had to provide a framework for relaxation in the middle of nature, but also for functional space solutions.

Wood in many forms

The frame material of the buildings was made of solid laminated timber. On the inside, the wood was tinted to a slightly lighter shade that matched the ash floor. Ash was also used in the inner staircase, and the partition between the kitchen and the staircase was realized as a CLT structure. The fireplace in the living room was made of gray mottled iron brick, while the darker-toned beach sauna used black warehouse brick in the brick wall structures. The interior ceiling of the beam-constructed upper floor was realized as a wooden paneled arch structure in both the main building and the beach sauna, in accordance with the Kaaripoukama theme. Our interior architect was closely involved in the project, and the chosen materials and shades reinforce the calm and peaceful atmosphere. In this destination, the main thing is the landscape, for which as much space as possible has been left in the architecture.
