Renovation of a 1960s apartment building in Munkkiniemi

In a 1960s apartment building, a major apartment renovation was done while respecting the old. The apartment had preserved a lot of exceptionally beautiful teak and Oregon pine veneered fixed furniture, and the starting point of the renovation was the restoration of these old pieces of furniture. A nice detail in the apartment were the Japanese-inspired interior doors covered with linen fabric, the torn fabrics in places were renewed during the renovation of the doors.

Oak, travertine and teak.

The new interior materials of the apartment were carefully chosen while respecting the original spirit. The original travertine tile floor was kept in the hall. Glued herringbone parquet was selected for the floor in the living room and bedroom, while a funky black coconut fiber floor was installed in the kitchen and utility room. The apartment's new fixed furniture are spectacular teak veneered cabinets with brass details.
